Abstract. The article deals with the electric field distribution element of a joint in the process of its geometry calculation and impulse voltage testing. A picture of the electric field distribution in the elastomeric element obtained by modeling using the ELCUT package is presented. Tests with a lightning impulse of positive and negative polarity showed good electrical resistance of the calculated structural element of the high-voltage joint.

RELIABILITY INDICATORS OF OPTICAL CABLES. SHELF LIFE AND METHOD OF ITS ASSESSMENT

I.A. Ovchinnikova,  Dr. Sc. (Engineering), Director of Research Area – Division Manager, JSC VNIIKP, full member of the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences of the Russian Federation;

P.A. Semenov, Department Manager, JSC VNIIKP;

A.S. Khakhichev, Testing Engineer, JSC VNIIKP;

V.A. Ovchinnikov, student of Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI)

Abstract. The article presents the main terms and definitions related to the reliability of products. The definitions of failure and limit state of optical fiber and optical cable are given; the reliability indicators for optical cables intended for fixed installation are established. The reasons for the impossibility of using common methods of assessing the reliability of products for the assessment of optical cable reliability are indicated.

The results of studies of the influence of some factors on the deformation of optical fibers located in optical cables are presented. A method for determining the deformation of OF in OC by monitoring the change in the frequency of the Mandelstam-Brillouin forced scattering and a method for assessing the optical cable shelf life are described.

Abstract. The article describes the influence of luminophore strontium aluminate on cable siloxane rubbers. The effect and duration of afterglow measured using a camera with preset parameters. The heat resistance, dielectric properties were also measured. It was observed what 20 phr. of strontium aluminate increase the heat resistance of siloxane rubber. It was observed what strontium aluminate didn’t affect on dielectric properties of siloxane rubbers. These studies will be continued.

Key words:  cable siloxane rubbers, luminophore, strontium aluminate, afterglow effect, heat resistance, dielectric properties

PERSONNEL IS THE KEY FACTOR

E.B. Vasiliev, Cand. Sc. (Economics), Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC VNIIKP, full member of the Academy of Electrotechnical Sciences of the Russian Federation

Abstract. The article focuses on one of the main factors that constrain the economic growth in the current circumstances – the personnel shortage. Experts give a disappointing forecast for 2024: the shortage of personnel will increase. The article suggests specific steps to be taken in the cable industry to overcome the "personnel hunger".

Key words:  workers, highly qualified specialists, electrical engineers, unified educational space, shortage of human resources, number of employees, "Foundation for Support of the Cable Industry named after Professor I.B. Peshkov", Electrocable Association
