Abstract. The article presents the electrical strength values measured in the initial state of full-scale specimens of fire-resistant medium-voltage power cables, as well as of cable prototypes and glass- and mica-containing materials used in the constructions of the above cables.

It is shown how the electrical strength changes during thermal, electrical and combined thermoelectric ageing. An approach to the determination of the long-term permissible operating electric field stresses is suggested. It is also shown that after the completion of the thermoelectric ageing the cable dielectric loss tangent increased slightly; however the thermal stability margin of the product, as well as the electrical strength margin, remains high.

Abstract. The article presents the results of the study of temperature dependence and thermal conductivity anisotropy (longitudinal and transverse) of a second-generation composite HTSC tape of the S-Innovations company (Russia) within the temperature range from 5 to 130 K. Specimens with copper and silver coatings, as well as an open tape and substrate with buffer layers were measured. It is shown that there is a significant (by more than five orders of magnitude) difference between the longitudinal and transverse thermal conductivity of the HTSC composite. The data obtained carry important information for the designing and optimization of various devices based on the tapes of the S-Innovations company (Russia).

THE INFLUENCE OF THE TRACTION NETWORK CURRENT ON THE WIRES IN THE TWO–WIRE-RAIL SYSTEM

E.Y. Semenova, Cand. Sc. (Engineering), Associate Professor at the Department of the “Electric Power Engineering of Transport”, Russian University of Transport;

B.A. Dudin, Cand. Sc. (Engineering), Associate Professor at the Department of the “Electric Power Engineering of Transport”, Russian University of Transport;

D.A. Dyudalova, magister, Russian University of Transport

Abstract.  One of the problems of the Two – wire – Rail system (TWR) is the electromagnetic influence of the contact network on adjacent power lines, which leads to significant losses and unbalance of electricity.

In the article, a study was conducted of calculations of the unbalance of electricity on the railway section, which showed that the average value of the unbalance of electricity consumed by end users takes different values. The experiment showed an imbalance of 15 % when powered from one substation and                    35 % from the second substation when powered from the other side.

Calculations of the effect of traction current on the TWR line were carried out, a design scheme and a replacement scheme for the TWR line were constructed. As a result of mathematical modeling, electricity unbalance coefficients were obtained and a graph was constructed depending on the location of the rolling stock relative to the measurement point at four different values of the current consumed, which shows the strong influence of the traction network current on the TWR wires due to mutual induction.

Key words:  longitudinal power supply system two wires - rail (TWR), AC contact network, unbalance of electricity consumed, mutual induction, current of electric rolling stock, power balance

Abstract. The process of heat treatment of film insulation of aircraft wires and cables in a vertical convection furnace was analyzed. The air flow rate in the electric furnace muffle was evaluated depending on the position of the throttle valve of the exhaust ventilation system and the diameter of the furnace inlet and outlet. The static and dynamic characteristics of the air temperature distribution inside the furnace were determined depending on the position of the throttle valve with and without a splitter. The actual temperature values were recorded using a thermoelectric transducer.

Methods of controlling the main technological factors affecting the stability of the air temperature distribution inside the furnace muffle are suggested. A method for assessing the quality of the sintered insulation of a cable product is proposed. The results of this study have found practical application in the production of cable products.

Key words: heat treatment, film insulation, sintering plant, air flow, temperature distribution
