The mechanism of electroerosive destruction of loop connections on high voltage overhead power lines

Abstract. The article deals with the mechanism of destruction of the conductive core of the self-supporting insulated bypass wire and the clamp in the loop connections of overhead power lines.

Assessment of the feasibility of using aluminum-zirconium alloy in the constructions of cables for oil submersible pumps

Abstract. This paper presents the results of a study of the corrosion resistance of a conductive core made of KAC ZTAL heat-resistant aluminum-zirconium alloy in comparison with a copper conductive core in twelve different environments potentially encountered during operation of a power cable for oil submersible pumps. The physical, mechanical, and electrical properties of the alloy and copper conductors were also examined, depending on the possible operating temperatures of the cable.
Based on these tests, conclusions were drawn regarding the feasibility of using aluminum-zirconium alloy in cables for submersible electric pumps in the oil industry and proposals were developed for revising GOST R 51777–2001 "Cables for installations of submersible electric pumps. General specifications."

SuperLink project: dreams of the future of Europe

Abstract. Following the rapid development of high-temperature superconductor (HTS) based superconducting power cables from the late 1990s to the mid-2010s, and the launch of the AMPACITY project in Germany in 2014, most cable projects in Europe remain on paper. One such ambitious project is the SuperLink – the creation of a universal and easily deployable 110 kV power transmission line adapted to the infrastructure requirements of megacities such as Munich, Germany. This article provides a brief overview of the project and an analysis of its feasibility and viability.

Abstract. The article presents historical data about the formation of the cable industry, created by the hands of workers from scientific research institutes, experimental design bureaus and industrial plants.
The production experience gained since the 1950s by the Kruglov family, a dynasty of cable workers, formed the basis of the Russian Cable Company, registered in 2006.
Today the company celebrates its jubilee, summing up both the work of the company staff and the long-term service to the Fatherland of the whole family, the Kruglov dynasty.
Sergey Kruglov, General Director of the JSC Russian Cable Company, recalls the era of the cable industry formation, the emergence of new production technologies, the improvement of scientific knowledge, the development of innovative materials and equipment – all that the country is proud of today.
The Russian Cable Company, remembering the historical traditions, continues its production and research activities in the implementation of major Russian projects, continuously increasing production and strengthening its market position. The company "holds the frontline" in the cable industry and strongly supports those who defend their Homeland on the front line.
