Abstract. The following test results are presented: the 220 kV joint outer protection mechanical test, including static pressure application, thermal cycling in water, d.c. and impulse voltage test; 110 kV termination low temperature test at minus 60 0C; type test of the 500 kV cable with 2500 mm2 and 3000 mm2 copper conductor. In addition the 500 kV cable was subjected to a series of lightning voltage impulses with an amplitude of up to 1850 kV at the conductor temperature of 110–115 0C without breakdown.

The tasks for the nearest future are defined – development of the national standard for HV and EHV cables and the organization of production of materials for HV cable insulation systems in Russia.

Key words: HV and EHV power cable, cable accessories, HV test, XLPE-based insulating materials, quality control, mechanical test, climatic test, national standard

Abstract. The work presents the results of studies of optical fibers and optical cables during and after exposure, including long-term (more than a year), elevated and critically increased temperatures. It also shows the dependence of the attenuation coefficient in cables and fibers on the effect of negative temperatures. The impact on the resistance to these temperatures of the design has been investigated. It has been shown that optical cables and fibers are capable of long-term operation in a wide temperature range.

Key words: optical fiber, protective coating, optical cable, high temperature, low temperature, temperature cycles, attenuation, test, material, sheath
